WHAT WILL I LEARN?
Our “Careers in Food” Program provides you with support training while undertaking a course in Certificate II in Hospitality. This course will help you gain the skills and knowledge to work places such as restaurants, hotels, clubs, pubs, cafes, cafeterias, function centres and coffee shops.
You will learn hands-on training through our practical workshops and gain work experience in our coffee shop “Java Train” Cafe
The program will prepare you for the skills needed to work in hospitality while you prepare for 3-days work at our local expo where you can showcase your training to potential employers – start your career pathway today.

What do I need to enrol?
- You must be at least 15 years old before you can start this course.
- You will need to do a Language, Literacy and Numeracy test (LLN) before a place can be offered.
- If you receive income support from Centrelink, you may be eligible for Austudy, or other assistance.

Start Dates: Tuesday 16th March 2021
The course runs for 17-weeks. Three days per week from 9:00am to 2:30pm
You will be required to work in a range of places including community clubs, mobile food trucks, cafes and restaurants on some evenings, and weekends. These hours may start at 6:00 am and may end around 11:00 pm.
The course is going to include work you do at home and 12 unpaid service shifts in a workplace as arranged by Abundance College Inc.

Students need to attend classes in our training room located at 4/99 Bloomfield Street, CLEVELAND QLD 4163 for a minimum of 18 contact hours per week. Students will be given a timetable during orientation.
Students will be required to complete learning activities and assessment tasks at home as instructed by your trainer during your lessons.
Students will be required to completed both theory using resources provided by MiHaven and practical training in a commercial kitchen, bar and coffee station.
All students are required to wear a uniform in accordance with our selected employers dress code while attending workplace training.
You will be provided with a shirt, black pants and closed in black shoes after fitting has taken place.
Students who have completed some of the course previously may be eligible for credit transfers or recognition of prior learning. More information can be received by contacting our office or talking to your trainer.
Upon successful completion of all units of competency, and meeting the requirements of the assessments, you will be issued with a nationally recognised transcript and certificate outlining the competencies achieved. If you withdrawal before completing the units of competency, a statement of attainment may be issued for any completed units of competency achieved during your course.
After completing this course, you may be able to study a Certificate III in Hospitality.
How many subjects do I need to do?
The Certificate II in Hospitality course consists of 12 units of competency with 6 essential units and 6 elective units.
You will also complete the Responsible Service of Alcohol course, as well as COVID Safety training.
This course will be completed through MiHaven RTO # 40928.
